Information Security and Inspection of Critical Infrastructure

Because of its importance, critical infrastructure, especially the energy sector, must be secure and cable of withstanding and rapidly recovering from all hazards, including cyber-attacks.

It goes without saying, therefore, that information collected about critical infrastructure, such as its location, operation, and role in the system is extraordinarily valuable and an extremely attractive target for attackers of all sorts. This information must be zealously protected during in all phases of collection, transmission, and storage while at the same time being accessible to the people who need the information to maintain and operate the facility in question.

Most companies inspecting critical infrastructure with sUAS, however, are not familiar with or experienced in the requirements imposed by this level of information security. Among other things, they must consider early on what information they are collecting, how long it should be retained, how and where it should be stored, who may access it, and many other related matters. Federal or state laws may expressly require (or prohibit) specific actions.

AirView Consulting has deep experience in the area of information security and how to protect it and helps companies in the infrastructure-inspection business develop processes and programs to ensure that restricted information stays that way.
